Job Description:
• Manage credit risks, operational risks, market risks and collection strategy for a given country.• Based on group risk strategy and business goals, support healthy business growth, sound decision-making, credit and risk policy.• Manage performance of product portfolios in given country. • Lead enhancement of risk management strategies, using new development techniques and champion/challenger learning to manage all aspects of risks while supporting business growth and long term profitability.• Support local risk management organization in building world class risk skills.• Permanently challenge status quo to strive for continuous improvement or risk and maximization of business profitability.
Key responsibilities:
• Develop and manage country risk management function in line with business plan, Group Risk strategy and policies.• Manage the Risk and Collection departments of the country including hiring, performance evaluation, coaching and development of top talents, organization of the work in the department.• Monitor and manage performance vs. budget and targets• Design, monitor and consistently improve underwriting processes and strategies for all products in the portfolio.• Support new product and process development in cooperation with other departments while keeping all relevant group policies and procedures. Approve launch of pilots and champion challengers within assigned approval authority.• Propose and support implementation of changes to the credit decision system to reflect actual portfolio performance, changed policies or procedures. • Design and implement Fraud prevention strategies for all products.• Build strategies for using of available credit bureaus and other external databases.• Design, monitor and consistently improve collection strategies for all products.• Closely cooperate with other members of country Senior Management team to support healthy business growth and profitability.• Cooperate with Group Risk team, regularly share information about actual product performance, relevant actions for improvement of portfolio performance, planned products and pilots, and other country risk initiatives (split of tasks between country and group risk teams is in detail described in the Roles & Responsibility document)• Act within the jurisdiction of the country, local national bank rules, instructions of the immediate manager and issued group policies and procedures.• Build positive image of Risk within the organization.
Experience and Expertise:
Need to have areas:
• Advanced degree in Business, Statistics, Mathematics, and/or Engineering• Extensive risk experience (7+ years), including 3+ years managing group wide risk of a multinational consumer finance institution or a retail bank• Minimum 3 years experience designing credit scoring functions, and logic and risk policies• Experience designing and implementing processes and strategies for anti-fraud, collections, credit approval and monitoring• Proven ability to lead teams with diverse responsibilities and tasks• Previous exposure to new product development and process design • Strong performance tract record (e.g. consistent improvement in risk measures, operations turnaround)• Excellent command of English• Working knowledge of country language (e.g. Russian)

• Experience with major brand name banks • Previous CEE or high-growth country experience• Previous exposure to specifics of emerging market environment• Experience with market entry situations• Experience with process management tools• Excellent quantitative problem solving skills
