Robert Half is looking for a Sr. Accountant to join our Education client in the Greater Boston/Metro West area. This is a hands-on, self-directed and experienced Accounting position and this position will be responsible for the accounting operations of the school, to include producing periodic financial reports, maintaining an adequate system of accounting and financial records, and ensuring a set of controls and budgets which will enhance the accuracy of the school’s financial reports. The Sr. Accountant will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and oversee one direct report.   How you will make an impact Ensure timely and accurate monthly financial statement closing, recording of transactions with proper backup documentation, actual to budget analysis, monthly accruals, maintaining up-to-date balance sheet schedules. Monthly review of financials with CFO.Responsible for all functions relating to accounts receivable, billing, adjustments, collection of tuition and fees, conducting reconciliation of revenue and receivable accounts among multiple systems. Work closely with parents, faculty and staff to resolve billing and payment issues, ensure prompt and accurate communication.Responsible for recording activity relating to pledges, contributions, grants and donations, working closely with Development office to obtain proper backup and documentation.Ensure cash accounts are maintained by recording of daily activities and all transactions are recorded and reconciled. Weekly cash management analysis and cash flow projectionsSupervise and direct the AP/Payroll Accountant to ensure accurate processing, allocation of payroll, taxes and benefits. Ensure accurate account coding and processing of vendor and contractor payments, expense reimbursements, company credit card transactions. Assist with the preparation and distribution of form 1099s.Assist in preparation of timely and accurate annual audit workpapers and schedules.Manage budget by providing monthly departmental budget-to-actual reports, coordinating line-item changes within divisions, ensuring consistent coding, and working with budget managers.Monthly reconciliations of all banks, investment and endowment accounts.Assist CFO in preparation of Board, Finance and Audit committee presentation preparation.Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.Maintain accounting systems, filing and documentation and internal controls for proper record keeping.Assist the CFO in creating and maintaining standard operating procedures to create efficiencies.
